It celebrates the innovative research of graduate students while fostering collaboration among students, faculty, and education professionals. GERC provides a dynamic space for sharing knowledge, building connections, and exploring new directions in educational research.

Kathleen Rose’s research focuses on gender and video games: how we can analyze them to understand how they shape gender roles and notions of self in game and IRL, and how we, in turn, can resist and reshape those rules, roles and worlds

Congress 2025

Hosted at George Brown College, Toronto

Congress 2025 gathered approximately 7,000 scholars, students, policymakers, and community members from across Canada at GBC’s campuses, creating an opportunity for the research community to close the gap between colleges and universities. This landmark event aims to spark transformative conversations and collaboration, encouraging participants to engage in interdisciplinary learning, build meaningful relationships, and initiate discussions that will influence the future.

This presentation studied experiences of transnational youth-led feminist activism for gender transformative education.

A interactive workshop draws from a collaborative autoethnography that included arts-base insights to develop guidelines for feminist mentorship.

Kids Help Phone

Kids Help Phone is Canada’s only 24/7, national support service. We offer professional counselling, information and referrals and volunteer-led, text-based support to young people. Trans Lifeline

Trans Lifeline’s Hotline is a peer support phone service run by trans people for our trans and questioning peers. Call us if you need someone trans to talk to, even if you’re not in a crisis or if you’re not sure you’re trans.
When you call, you’ll speak to a trans/nonbinary peer operator
Full anonymity and confidentiality
No non-consensual active rescue (calling 911, emergency services, or law enforcement)

WAVAW 24-Hour Crisis and Information Line provides 24/7, free and confidential support by phone and online chat. We help the LGBTQ+ community, women, men in Canada who may be struggling or looking for support with sexual abuse. When you reach out to us you will talk with one of our trained and supportive counselors who will collaborate with you to find solutions while giving you an empathetic and compassionate ear. They have expertise and understanding in how to help people going through difficulties similar to what you are. We are ready to support you 24/7, whether it’s the middle of the day or the middle of the night.

Wellness Together Canada offers counselling (phone or video) and crisis support (texting), 24/7. Services are free and offered to anyone across Canada, or Canadians abroad, and provide support for any mental health and/or substance use health need.Translation is available through the phone line, in over 200 languages. The counselling line is supported by trained and supervised counsellors. In addition to counselling and crisis support, a full continuum of virtual mental health and substance use health resources are available at wellnesstogether.ca Wellness Together Canada is delivered in partnership with Homewood Health, Kids Help Phone and Stepped Care Solutions, and is funded by the Government of Canada.

The Listening Ear is dedicated to providing free, compassionate and confidential support over phone. We are here to help everyone in Michigan, the United States, and Canada who may be looking for support with abuse & domestic violence, anxiety, bullying, Dementia & Alzheimer’s, depression, eating & body image, family issues, gambling, gender & sexual identity, grief & loss, loneliness, parenting, pregnancy & abortion, relationships, school or work issues, self-harm, sexual abuse, stress, substance use, suicide, supporting a friend or family member, trauma & PTSD. People call us for many different mental health, crisis and behavioral health reasons. Regardless of what you are experiencing, we can support you. Talking with us is free. As part of our commitment to preventing suicide, we are available to help you if you are considering suicide or harming yourself, or if you are noticing warning signs in a friend or family member
